THE COMMUNITY CURRENCY DIRECTORY OF HUMBOLDT COUNTY

December 2006/January 2007 Issue

Greetings, Humboldt Community!

Welcome to the December 2006-January 2007 issue of the Humboldt Exchange Community Currency Directory. Inside you’ll find a wealth of resources and news to connect you with others in our community as we work to build a stronger local economy in Humboldt County.

A few highlights to note:

Yes, that’s right – 2007 is upon us! This marks the third year of the Humboldt Exchange Community Currency Project being a project of Democracy Unlimited and we’re still going strong. Thanks to all of you who have participated in building a healthy local economy through the Humboldt Exchange.

Extra special Humboldt Exchange Pancake Breakfast in December. Our annual Holiday Craft Exchange and Great Cookie Swap is Sunday, December 10 from 10am-2pm. Bring your winter crafts, including holiday cookies, to the last Pancake Breakfast of 2006. Fun gifts, craft ideas and yummy pancakes!

Check out our new $1 bills. We expect to have the new ones back from the printers in time for the December Pancake Breakfast – don’t miss your first chance to make change for those fives!

To January and beyond! Do you want to help make the Humboldt Exchange even better in the years ahead? Let us know! We are looking for help with layout, business outreach, and other aspects of this fun and meaningful project. Call us at 476-8475 or email info@HumboldtExchange.org to find out how you can contribute to building interdependence in our local bioregion.

As the winter rains fall, we hope you’ll find warmth and community in the pages that follow. Whether its firewood or a Scrabble buddy, let the Humboldt Exchange bring a little light into your life this winter – and know that every time you use Community Currency, you are helping to kindle the flame of local exchange for a stronger Humboldt County. Happy exchanging, happy holidays, and best wishes for the New Year.

In each other we trust!
Kaitlin, Yvonne, Mike, Jared, Heather Hannah, Sam, and Shannon

PS - Would you like to receive a phone call and/or email reminder before the pancake breakfast and deadline for submissions to the Exchange directory?
