THE COMMUNITY CURRENCY DIRECTORY OF HUMBOLDT COUNTY

October/November 2007

October/November Cover ImageGreetings, Humboldt County Community!

Welcome to the October/November 2007 issue of the Humboldt Exchange Community Currency Directory. Inside you’ll find a wealth of resources and news to connect you with others in our community.

Highlights this month:

Buy A House With Community Currency!
New businesses in October and November:
• Renaissance Computing in Arcata will accept Community Currency for servicing your PC! You can pay up to $10CC per hour towards the hourly rate of $60. Give them a call for help with networking, virus prevention, spyware removal, and anything else that leaves you staring blankly at the screen.
• Village Real Estate will accept up to $1,000 Community Currency towards any real estate transaction. That’s right, you can make a down payment using CC! If you’re looking for a place to call home, contact Village Real Estate about using Community Currency to purchase property.
• Where do you want to shop? Let us know where you want to spend Community Currency and we’ll send a business packet of information right away!

Community Currency 101
Are you wondering how the Humboldt Exchange can help you out? Whether this is the first time you’ve picked up the Directory or the fiftieth, you are invited to bring any and all questions about Community Currency to our free monthly workshop. “Community Currency 101” is an hour-long introduction, including background on local currencies and interactive exercises to help you get the most from Community Currency.
We can also bring “Community Currency 101” to you! Let us know if your club, agency, apartment building, or other community group wants to learn more about the Humboldt Exchange.

Pancakes for Kids of All Ages!
Don’t forget to put the monthly Pancake Breakfast on your calendar! Just $5 CC for all you can eat breakfast, including organic pancakes made from Siskiyou County grains and tasty seasonal toppings. Bring the whole family! $5CC (or US) per person, kids under 10 are free.

Get Involved!
We could use your help with everything from putting on events, to listings data entry, to reaching out to new businesses. Come to one of our open meetings, held the last Monday of every month at 7:00pm. At these meetings we have a discussion circle about the workings of Community Currency. We answer one another’s questions, and generate ideas. The next two meetings are:
• Monday, October 29 – 7:00pm
• Monday, November 26 – 7:00pm
Or give us a call anytime at 476-8475 to get involved immediately!

We invite you to check out the listings that follow to meet your autumn needs – from costuming up for Hallowe’en to preparing for the winter weather. And don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and let someone know if you can help them out, too! Thanks for reading, and happy exchanging...

In each other we trust!
